Sch. Emma Frances sailed March 22d 1864 with a crew of nine men, as follows:

John C. Mellows, of Chatham, master
Manuel Rose, leaves widow and one child
Joseph Wood, leaves widow
Joseph Silva, Jr.
Geo. Williams
Andrew Francis
John Williams
Charles Silva
C. H. Orr, a stranger, and it is not known where he belonged.

Three-quarters of the vessel was owned by Mr. David Parkhurst, and the remainder by Messrs. Edward and William Babson. She was built at Essex in 1857, was 79 tons burthen, and valued with her outfits at $5000. Insured at the Gloucester Mutual Fishing Insurance Office for $3150.
