old, single, native of Bay Bulls, N.F., on of the crew of schooner Laverna,
drowned at Boston Fish Pier, by falling overboard while boarding the vessel.
6th - Captain Nathaniel C. Day, 69 years old,
native of Newfoundland, mate of schooner Margaret, fell dead from heart
disease on board the vessel while on her passage home from Bay of Islands, N.F., left
widow and six children.
19th - Asaph Misner, 33 years old, single, native of
Pleasantville, N.S., and James Willneff, 40 years old, single, native of
Stonehurst, N.S., washed overboard from schooner John J. Fallon on
Browns bank.
28th - William Madsen, 34 years old, single, native
of Denmark, one of the crew of schooner Senator, died at the Chelsea Marine
Hospital.
February
5th - Peter J. Foley, 30
years old, single, native of Placentia, N.F., fell overboard from schooner Hesperus about
60 miles east of Thatchers Island.
13th - Charles Johnson, 49 years old, native of
Sweden, washed overboard from schooner Robert and Arthur on Georges.
20th - Timothy McDougall, 36 years old, native of
Aspey Bay, C.B., washed overboard from schooner Laverna on Georges, left
widow and three step-children.
22nd - Neil McLean, 31 years old, single, native of
Aspey Bay, C.B., one of the crew of schooner Ruth and Margaret, died at the
Boston City Hospital.
24th - Patrick Fitzpatrick, 42 years old, single,
native of Placentia, N.F., lost overboard from schooner Florizel.
March
15th - Thomas Howell, 40 years old, single, native
of Nova Scotia, drowned from schooner Tattler at sea.
May
14th - Murdock Beaton, 48 years old, single, native
of Port Hood, C.B.; Conrad Williams, 27 years old, single; William Burbridge,
40 years old, native of Maine, widower, left one child; Patrick Powers, 47 years
old, native of Newfoundland, left widow and five children; Caesar Doucette, 40
years old, native of Yarmouth County, N.S., widower, left two children, and Peter
Powers, 50 years old, native of Nova Scotia, left widow and one child, part of the
crew of schooner Benjamin A. Smith, drowned by the capsizing of their dory
when the schooner was run down by the Norwegian steamer Commodore Perkins,
25 miles south of Barnegal.
July
23rd - William Doucette, 52 years old, native of
Digby County, N.S., died on board steamer Thelma, of heart trouble, left
widow and six children. Gustavus Amero, 40 years old, single, native of
Pubnico, N.S., knocked overboard from schooner Thomas S. Gorton off Seal
Island.
August
1st - Freeman A. Munro, 27 years old, native of
Whitehead, N.S. fell from bowsprit of schooner Monarch on La Have bank, left
widow and one child.
September
13th - Ronald McDonald, 35 years old, single, native
of Newfoundland, one of the crew of schooner Lottie G. Merchant, drowned in
collision between the schooner and schooner Mary F. Barrett, 18 miles
southeast of Monhegan.
16th - Baptiste R. White, 46 years old, native of
France, engaged in boat fishing, died at Provincetown, left widow.
November
6th - Amel Nelson, 43 years old, single, native of
Sweden, one of the crew of schooner Monarch, drowned at Lanes wharf by
falling overboard while boarding the vessel.
18th - Michael White, 34 years old, single, native
of Placentia Bay, N.F., washed overboard from schooner Sumerville on Western
bank.
29th - Joseph Ferandeiroes, 41 years old, native of
Lisbon, Portugal, one of the crew of schooner Flora L. Oliver, drowned on
Grand Banks by the capsizing of his dory, left widow and two children. |
