a violent snow storm.

Sch. Franklin
Snow lost on Grand Banks in March, with crew of twelve men. James
Downy and Richard Kelley, both of Guysboro, N. S., lost
overboard from sch. Mary Low on Western Bank.
Sch. Matchless
lost on Georges in March, with crew of ten men.
2nd - Caleb Coops, of this
town, lost overboard from schooner Edward Everett.
12th - Sch. Southern
Cross employed in the Grand Bank Fishery, lost in the ice off Newfoundland;
crew saved. William J. McKay, of this town, and Patrick
O'Brien, of Newfoundland, lost from sch. George O. Hovey.
15th - James McIntosh, of
this town, and Charles Wells, of Manchester, were lost from sch. Oceanus.
21st - Thomas McGowan, of
Boston, and William Cuick, of LeHave, N. S., lost on Grand Bank from sch.
John Smith.

Friendship, Me., and Pierce Wotton, of this town, lost on Western Bank,

19th - Frank Freitus fell
from the jib-boom of Sch. Ella Armsden form Windsor, N. S.,
bound for Philadelphia, and was drowned. He was a native of Boston, where he leaves
a widow and one child..
